Halloween Candy Is Fine. Here Is How to Enjoy It.

Happy Halloween! 🎃
I'm going to say something a lot of coaches won't: it is OK to eat some candy today.
Go ahead and have a few pieces. Hand out the good stuff at the door and sneak one for yourself. Enjoy it, and do not feel guilty about it.
One day does not undo your training
You do not lose your progress because of a few pieces of candy. Strength and fitness are built over weeks and months of showing up. One night with a fun-size bar or two does not erase that.
What actually costs people is the guilt spiral. They eat a few pieces, decide the whole week is ruined, and then skip class and say "I'll start over Monday." That is the part that sets you back, not the candy.
We are all allowed to have fun
Training is supposed to make your life better, not smaller. I want you strong, healthy, and still able to enjoy a holiday with your family. Trick-or-treating with your kids, a party with friends, a bowl of candy on the counter. That is part of a good life too.
If every treat feels like a crisis, something is off. Being healthy includes being able to relax and enjoy a night like this.
A few simple tips
- Pick your favorites. Skip the candy you do not really love and enjoy the stuff you do.
- Eat a real meal first. Showing up to the candy bowl starving makes it a lot harder to stop at a few.
- Take your time. Slow down and taste it. It is more fun that way.
- Make a plan for the leftovers. Put the bowl out of sight, share it, or take it to work so it is not sitting on the counter all week.
Get back to business tomorrow
Here is the one rule. Tomorrow is a normal day again.
Drink some water. Eat a good breakfast. Come to class. Do not "punish" yourself with extra workouts or skip meals to make up for it. That never works and it is no fun. Just pick up where you left off.
Consistency beats perfection, in the gym and everywhere else. One night of candy does not change who you are or what you are building.
